Slender Man (And His Off-Putting Fingers) Star In Trailer For The New Movie

First it was the product of a humble Photoshop contest, then it was an internet sensation, now it's going to be a movie. The second trailer for Sony's Slender Man film was recently released, and it looks super creepy.

The trailer follows a group of adolescent girls as one gets preoccupied with the Slender Man myth and suddenly goes missing. The others find out that she had been researching Slender Man, and try to summon him in order to find her, not really comprehending what they're about to take on. Things quickly descend into chaos as they become haunted by the creature, who can occupy the mind and drive people to insanity.

Slender Man remains one of the most notorious internet myths of all time, beginning as a submission for a Photoshop contest and spawning all kinds of works of fiction, websites, and general obsession; people have even gathered photos throughout history citing them as evidence for Slender Man's existence.

The trailer features a few of jump scares and some very frightening glimpses of Slender Man's tentacles, which appear as though black vines are reaching out at you. It doesn't show Slender Man outright, but parts of his body, his creepily long fingers in particular, are visible in the trailer.

Slender Man is directed by Sylvain White and will hit theaters August 10.
