Last Chance To Download February's PlayStation Plus Freebies (PS4, PS3, Vita)

The next group of March PlayStation Plus free games will be live in less than a week, which means it's your last chance to grab the freebies being offered in February. February's batch of free PlayStation Plus games will be the last to include PS3 and Vita games, so it'll be only PS4 titles offered from here on out. However, Sony did increase cloud storage for PS Plus members from 10GB to 100GB this month as a perk. And you'll still be able to play any PS3 and Vita games in your library as long as you're a PS Plus member.

February's available free games include For Honor and Hitman: The Complete First Season as the two PS4 exclusives. Gunhouse and Rogue Aces are available for both PS4 and Vita. Meanwhile, you can also download Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for PS3, and Divekick is available for both PS3 and Vita.

While March has only two free games on its lineup for PS Plus members, they're two games you don't want to miss. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered and The Witness will replace February's offers on March 5 and be free to download for PS Plus members until April 1.

Here are the games to download now while they're free. Sony initially said the PS3 and Vita games would be available until March 8, but the PlayStation store indicates all offers will expire March 5. So if you see a game you really want, go ahead and grab it now.

Fortnite Season 8 Lets You Complete Challenges With Friends

Epic Games has released the next big update for Fortnite, which launches Season 8. The new season adds several gameplay tweaks, new map areas and weapons, and updates the battle royale game with a brand-new Battle Pass. To help you finish its numerous tasks--which offer more than 100 rewards, including new skins--Fortnite's new update now allows you to complete challenges with your friends.

To get some help with the Season 8 Battle Pass' daily and weekly challenges, enable Party Assist prior to jumping into a Fortnite match. Once you do, every party member in your group, including you, will be able able to contribute to the overall progress for the selected challenge. However, Party Assist will not rope in players who are added to groups to fill in empty spaces during matchmaking. Party Assist won't work in larger multiplayer modes, such as Team Rumble, either. For exact details on Party Assist, check out Season 8's patch notes.

As stated before, Season 8 adds numerous other adjustments to Fortnite. Perhaps the most notable are the changes to Fortnite island, which sees the introduction of a new locations, such as a volcano, Sunny Steps, and Lazy Lagoon. The volcano is especially dangerous, as it brings lava to Fortnite. Lava is bouncy but harmful to touch, and it will cause hot air to billow from certain vents which can launch players into the sky.

There's been some weapon chances as well. A new Pirate Cannon has been added that allows you to destroy structures from a distance or launch yourself across the map. The Chiller Grenade, on the other hand, has been vaulted as is no longer accessible for the time being. The grenade isn't the only one either. The Sneaky Snowman, X-4 Stormwing, Shopping Cart, and All Terrain Kart have all been vaulted too. Assault rifles are still available, but Epic has adjusted their drop rates so the high-tiered ones won't appear as often.

Fortnite is available for Xbox One, PS4, PC, Switch, and mobile devices.

Apex Legends The Everlasting Chase To Become Champion

Erick jumps back into King's Canyon to try to become champion once again in Apex Legends on PS4.

A History of D-Generation X, The Rudest Stable in WWE History

Everything that was once cool gets old, eventually. And if you want to reflect on how quickly time flies, look no further than D-Generation X. At one time, they were the most controversial stable on WWE television. Now, they are the elder statesmen of sports entertainment. And on April 6, the evening before WrestleMania, they will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame: Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Chyna, X-Pac, Road Dogg, and Billy Gunn.

There's an irony here: the stable that gained its notoriety by doing the crotch chop to authority figures is now part of the establishment, and Triple H himself is the Executive Vice President of Talent. In honor of their induction, we put together a brief history and timeline of DX's greatest moments and career highlights. Let's break it down.

We Are Degenerates!

The official "D-Generation X" label was a play off of Bret "The Hitman" Hart's promos. The Hart Foundation was feuding with Shawn and his friends in 1997. Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Chyna, and Rick Rude functioned as a stable even before they called themselves one.

And during a segment, Bret stated that Shawn was "nothing more than a degenerate."

Shawn, however, decided to embrace the label as a badge of honor. And in doing so, he solidified himself as the vulgar heel and the counterpoint to Bret's squeaky clean persona. The original DX lineup, along with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, created a new antihero archetype; prior to that, wrestlers usually fell into clear-cut categories of good or bad.

Suck It!

The original DX was essentially a protection racket for Shawn Michaels, with Rick Rude as the original mentor and degenerate, and Triple H and Chyna as the muscle; they were there to scowl and act as his foils, while the more diminutive Heartbreak Kid ran his mouth.

They were openly disrespectful of authority, particularly to on-screen commissioner Sergeant Slaughter. And like Austin and his antagonistic relationship with his boss, DX represented a sort of wish fulfilment. How great would it be to tell all the people you didn't like that they could go "suck it?" DX allowed fans to have that sort of vicarious fantasy through them. Moreover, it seemed like Triple H and Shawn were simply having fun. Enthusiasm is infectious.

Parents complained about their behavior, but the didn't make them behave any better. After all, the best way to make kids love something is to ensure that parents hate it. T-shirt sales went through the roof.

Montreal Screwjob

Real life and the fantasy world of wrestling got tangled up in November 1997, when Michaels faced then WWE Champion Bret Hart in a title match at Survivor Series. Bret was leaving the company to go to WCW. And Vince McMahon decided to have Bret lose the match and drop the belt without telling him.

When Shawn locked Bret into a Sharpshooter, referee Earl Hebner called for the bell, even though Bret never submitted. Shawn knew about the screwjob, though he kept this secret at the time. And Triple H probably knew as well; he was by ringside with Vince McMahon and walked Shawn backstage, presumably to make sure that the Hart Foundation or Bret didn't beat him to a pulp.

The feud between DX and The Hart Foundation ended shortly afterwards.

State Of The Union

For the next 140 days, Triple H and Chyna watched Michaels' back; Rick Rude left WWE for WCW. And thanks in part to their efforts, Shawn held onto the WWE Championship for 140 days. Everyone's notoriety in WWE rose, especially Triple H's; once a midcarder, he was pegged as a future WWE Champion. They continued recording crass skits filled with teenage boy humor, much to the delight of the growing audience, which was switching the channel from WCW to see what the fuss was about. They even inducted Mike Tyson as an honorary member of the group.

This sketch, in which DX addressed the the standards of broadcasting in a "State of the Union" press conference, was particularly memorable. It is an extremely '90s segment; it even manages to squeeze in a Clinton/Lewinsky joke at the very end.

HHH Forms The DX Army

WrestleMania XIV was a low point in DX's history. Mike Tyson, the special guest referee for the main event between Shawn Michaels and Steve Austin, betrayed his DX buddies, and did a quick count on Michaels to award Austin the WWE Championship. Michaels wouldn't compete again for four years; he was dealing with a severe back injury that could have ended his career permanently

The following night on Raw, Triple H called Michaels out for his poor leadership, and took sole leadership over the stable. He added X-Pac, Road Dogg, and Billy Gunn into the mix; including Chyna, it was now a five-person stable.

DX Invades WCW Nitro

The DX Army era (1998-2000) was the stable's prime; they started as heels, but their anti-authority gimmick made eventually turned tham babyface. Their catchphrases multiplied; Triple H would get the crowd hyped by yelling, "LET'S GET READY TO SUCK IT!!" and the New Age Outlaws had an entire self-introduction routine, which the fans enthusiastically repeated after them.

A incomplete list of highlights:

  • Their feud with The Rock, then a member of the Nation of Domination.
  • Their feud with Vince McMahon's Corporation (though the group would later splinter when Triple H and Chyna defected to the Corporation).
  • Triple H's forced marriage to Stephanie McMahon, which was performed while she was drugged.
  • Triple H's alliance with Mr. McMahon, which allowed him to capture the WWE Championship for the first three times.

A particularly iconic image from this era was when DX visited an arena where WCW Nitro was being taped, and attempted to invade their competition. Despite the stable's best efforts, they were stopped at the door.

Kane Speaks

When Triple H and Chyna left DX and joined the Corporation, X-Pac and the New Age Outlaws continued using the DX gimmick. They formed an alliance with Kane, who had been kicked out of the Corporation, and the Big Red Machine and X-Pac even held the Tag Team titles.

One of the most memorable moments from this era was when Kane spoke his first words without the use of an electrolarynx. X-Pac was the first person who Kane could refer to as a genuine friend, and so naturally, his first words were, "SUCK IT!" The crowd response this received was electric.

The Co-Founder Feud

When Shawn Michaels returned to WWE for active competition after his layoff, Triple H initially acted friendly and offered to reform DX. But secretly, he was planning the Heartbreak Kid's downfall. The friendship became irreconcilable when he secretly attacked Shawn Michaels in a parking lot, was discovered, and then proudly claimed responsibility for doing so.

This led to a series of bloody death-wish matches, starting with an unsanctioned street fight at Summerslam (2002). The feud peaked later that year at Armageddon; Triple H won their blow-off match together, which had a "3 Stages of Hell" stipulation. There was also a Hell in a Cell match, which Triple H also won, in 2004.

Gross Pranksters

When DX reformed again in 2006, it was as a babyface tag team comprised of Shawn Michaels and Triple H. But this DX was not as envelope-pushing as the original DX; they were more in the vein of being goofy, gross pranksters. And they took particular pleasure in trolling the hell out of the McMahons.

Amongst other things, they spray-painted Vince's plane, his limousine, and the WWE headquarters with the DX logo. They dubbed/distorted Vince's voice whenever he got on a microphone. They slimed the Spirit Squad (a heel faction of male cheerleaders--yes, really) in the ring. And they soaked the Spirit Squad, Shane McMahon, and Vince with the contents of a port-o-potty. All in a day's work.

I Just Kicked Stan!

Never question how controversial Shawn Michaels is. He might just go on a Sweet Chin Music kicking spree. There's not too much to say about this, other than that it's one of the funniest WWE backstage clips of the past 20 years. Everyone--especially the guy carrying all the papers, sells like a champ for this.

And here's a little bonus trivia. "Stan" is former WWE Superstar Tye Dillinger, years before he signed with NXT and developed his Perfect 10 gimmick.

The Coolest Summerslam Entrance In WWE History

DX's next major reunion came at the 2009 Summerslam PPV, when Triple H was feuding with Randy Orton and the rest of the Legacy stable (Ted Dibiase, Jr., Cody Rhodes). The two co-founders of DX rode into the Staples Center on a massive tank, and lit up the arena with a firework gun mounted on top.

This was Triple H at the height of his babyface run. DX would capture the Unified Tag Team Titles at the end of the year; this was the first time the team of Triple H and Shawn Michaels had ever won it. But in April 2010, Shawn Michaels would lose at Wrestlemania to the Undertaker, forcing him into early retirement.

Reunions And More Reunions

Aside from a few nostalgia-driven feuds by the New Age Outlaws, DX reunions are typically done in a non-competitive capacity. They reunite for special events like Tribute for the Troops or the 1000th episode of Raw or Triple H's match against Sting at Wrestlemania, spit out their catchphrases, and send the fans home happy.. Their most recent reunion came at the 25th anniversary episode of Raw, when they also brought Scott Hall (Razor Ramon) out to celebrate with them).

We're Too Old For This

For years, it was assumed that Shawn Michaels would stay permanently retired. But in 2018, WWE announced that Shawn would come out of retirement for the company's Crown Jewel PPV. He tagged with Triple H to take on the Brothers of Destruction, The Undertaker and Kane.

The star power was undeniable, but everyone (aside, surprisingly, from Shawn) showed their age. Triple H tore his pectoral muscle, and Shawn had to carry most of the match. The Undertaker and Kane failed to catch Shawn in a botched moonsault spot, and the Heartbreak Kid landed on his face.

It's no wonder that after the match, Shawn leaned over to Triple H and says, "We're too old for this." There's only so many times that one can go back to the well. And though the days of playing teenage boys may be behind them, their place in history is assured.

This year, D-Generation X, comprised of Shawn Michaels, Triple H, the late Chyna, X-Pac, Road Dogg, and Billy Gunn, will be the headline inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame. The ceremony will air live on April 6, 2019 on the WWE Network.

‘Cultist Simulator’ from Playdigious Is Coming to iOS and Android This Spring and Pre-Registrations Are Now Live

Over the last year or so, I’ve been keeping an eye on what Humble Bundle has been publishing on Switch and PC. They’ve released some great stuff like Aegis Defenders on multiple platforms but also some PC exclusive stuff like Cultist Simulator from Weather Factory. After a bit of teasing, Playdigious announced a mobile port of Cultist Simulator. Watch the trailer for it below:

Cultist Simulator has always felt like something that Humble would get ported to Switch because they’ve put a ton of stuff on Switch recently before other platforms. The way most indie games are these days, we usually have to wait for a PC release to end up on Switch then PS4 then mobile. Thankfully, Cultist Simulator is bringing occult strategy to iOS and Android before hitting any other platform after the original PC release.

The mobile port will support English and Simplified Chinese. What got me interested in the game when I saw the initial gameplay was the roguelike and card based nature. I also enjoy playing card based games on touch so this is perfect. I can’t wait to check it out on iPad. Cultist Simulator arrives on iOS and Android this Spring. You can pre-register for it on Google Play here. The iOS release is not up for preorder yet. There will be a preorder discount though. Check out the original PC version on Steam here.

Destiny 2 Gets New Gambit Mode In Season Of The Drifter

Destiny 2's next season kicks off on March 5, and with it comes new activities to complete as part of the game's Annual Pass offering. The Joker's Wild DLC that corresponds with Season 6, the Season of the Drifter, is adding a new version of the Gambit competitive mode called Gambit Prime, which ups the stakes on the mode first introduced with the Forsaken expansion.

Bungie ran down some of the details in a new blog post and vidoc that showcase some of what players can expect in Season 6. The story of the next season is focused on The Drifter, the mysterious character who runs Gambit, and the giant strange artifact he's been towing behind his ship since he showed up in Destiny 2. According to the vidoc, you might think of Gambit up to now as training for a heist. Gambit Prime is the heist, according to Bungie, and it feeds into another high-level activity called The Reckoning.

The Reckoning will be a tiered event that drops special loot, with the idea that you'll be collecting armor and weapons in The Reckoning, taking them back to Gambit Prime to earn better stuff there, and then using that stuff to head back to The Reckoning. The first tier of The Reckoning will be available at the start of the season on March 5, along with Gambit Prime's first new map, a Mars location called New Arcadia. According to Bungie's Destiny 2 roadmap, the second tier of The Reckoning unlocks on March 8, and the third and final tier will be available to players on March 15.

Although the vidoc wasn't very specific on how Gambit Prime will differ from regular Gambit, or what exactly The Reckoning will be, one interesting element of The Reckoning is that it's tied to The Nine. That's the strange, shadowy group mostly only hinted at in Destiny lore up until now, primarily through visits from the weekly Exotic weapons vendor and Emissary of the Nine, Xur. Previous info about Season 6 mentioned that Xur will soon offer bounties for players to complete. Those are now called Invitations of the Nine and will pop up on March 15 with The Reckoning's third tier. These are weekly bounties that offer Powerful rewards, but you can only complete one on each character per week, for nine weeks. There aren't many details as to what they'll entail, though.

As for new Gambit Prime maps, after New Arcadia, a Titan location called Deep Six will get added on March 12. There will also be three new Gambit weapons to earn in the activity, as well as new armor sets through Gambit Prime and The Reckoning.

As the vidoc notes, Bungie took a note from the first DLC release of its new Annual Pass, The Black Armory. When that season started, it came with a Power increase that required players to grind old activities in order to become strong enough to play the newly released content, something nobody playing Destiny 2 was very happy about. That won't happen in Joker's Wild--Bungie says top-level players will be able to jump right into the new Gambit Prime mode. A new set of bounties available from The Drifter, called Power Surge bounties, will also help anybody who's below 640 Power boost themselves up to close to last season's max level within an hour or two, Bungie says.

There's one more big event coming in Joker's Wild that Destiny 2 fans are likely to be waiting for: the quest to get Thorn, one of the best-loved (and most-hated) guns in Destiny 1. That starts on March 12, but sounds like it'll be lengthy and include time gates the way previous Exotic weapons quests have. It sounds like that quest will also require you to pick sides between the Drifter and the Guardian-governing group called the Vanguard. Once you make that choice for a specific character, you're stuck with it, apparently.

While the Gambit-related content in Season of the Drifter is locked behind the Annual Pass, there are a few new bits of content for those who haven't ponied up for the DLC. Season 6 will see new high-level Pinnacle weapons to earn in the Crucible and from Vanguard strikes. There are also two new events coming: a spring event called The Revelry, which sounds to be similar to the Valentine's Day-themed Crimson Days, holiday-themed event The Dawning, and Halloween-themed Festival of the Lost events. Another weeklong event, called Arc Week, will also be free to all players. Those events will start in April and bleed into May.

What's New In Fortnite Season 8? New Skins, Battle Pass, Challenges, And More

Fortnite's big 8.0 update is now live on all platforms, which means Season 8 of the popular battle royale game has officially begun. As teased, this season is themed around pirates, and the scurvy seadogs have brought with them a new cannon weapon. Epic has also made some big changes to the game's map; a volcano has erupted out of the island, and there are two new surrounding areas to explore.

Of course, a new season also means a new Battle Pass is available to purchase, and it comes with a ton of new cosmetic rewards to unlock. And that's nothing to say of the other tweaks Epic has made to the game. To help catch you up on all the changes, we've rounded up everything that's new in Season 8 of Fortnite below.

Fortnite 8.0 Update Patch Notes

The patch notes for Fortnite's 8.0 update are out now, and they detail a ton of changes to the game. On top of adding new areas to the island (more on that below), Epic has introduced a new weapon: the aforementioned Pirate Cannon. This can be used to destroy faraway structures or even fire players across the map.

Another major edition in the update is Party Assist, a new feature that allows every player in a party to contribute progress toward challenges. Epic has also copied one of Apex Legends' best features, adding a ping system of its own to Fortnite. Finally, the developer has brought back two LTMs--50v50 and Close Encounters--and vaulted a handful of Season 7's weapons.

Fortnite Season 8 Battle Pass And New Skins

As it does every season, Epic is offering a new Battle Pass for Fortnite. If you finished all of Season 7's extra Overtime challenges, you can claim the new pass for free, while everyone else can purchase it for its usual price of 950 V-Bucks.

Just as before, the Season 8 Battle Pass gives players access to a slate of exclusive challenges. Completing these will level the pass up, which in turn will unlock Season 8's new skins and other cosmetics. Purchasing the Battle Pass will also automatically give players the Blackheart and Hybrid skins, both of which can evolve into different styles.

Fortnite Season 8 Challenge Guides

As in previous seasons, Epic is giving players a variety of challenges to complete each week in Season 8. These are divided into two categories: those that are open to everyone, and those reserved for players who've purchased a Battle Pass.

The first set of weekly challenges is now available, and they task players to visit the new Pirate Camps and find a giant face in the desert, jungle, and snow, among other things. You can find the full list of this season's objectives in our complete Season 8 challenges guide.

Free

  • Visit all Pirate Camps (7) -- 5 Battle Stars
  • Search chests at Retail Row or Junk Junction (7) -- 5 Battle Stars
  • Stage 1 of 3: Deal damage with a Shotgun and an explosion weapon in a single match (2) -- 3 Battle Stars

Premium

  • Visit a giant face in the desert, jungle, and the snow (3) -- 5 Battle Stars
  • Use a Volcano Vent in a different matches (5) -- 5 Battle Stars
  • Get an elimination with a Shotgun, Assault Rifle, and Explosive Weapon (3) -- 10 Battle Stars
  • Deal damage to a vehicle driven by an opponent (200) -- 10 Battle Stars

Fortnite Season 8 Map Changes

Along with all the new items and cosmetics, Season 8 has brought some significant changes to Fortnite's map. The mysterious earthquakes that shook up the island toward the end of Season 7 have resulted in a giant volcano emerging toward the northeastern part of the map.

The volcano is ringed by a pool of lava that will harm players and cause them to bounce away if they come in contact with it, and there are new Volcanic Vents dotted the island; these expel gusts of air that can send players flying.

On top of that, two new areas have also appeared on the map. To the east of the volcano is Sunny Steps, which features Mayan-like pyramids. To the west is Lazy Lagoon, where a huge pirate ship is docked.

Everything We Know About A Quiet Place 2 So Far

2018 was a big year for John Krasinski. For most, the actor was best known for playing lovelorn Jim Halpert in nine seasons of The Office, as well as for comedic roles in movies such as Away We Go and The Muppets. There were some eyebrows raised when Krasinski was cast as Jack Ryan in Amazon's adaptation of Tom Clancy's spy thrillers, although he had previously shown his tough guy persona in Michael Bay's military thriller 13 Hours. However, absolutely no one was expecting that he would also direct one of the year's best and most successful horror thrillers.

A Quiet Place wasn't Krasinski's directorial debut; in 2016, he made the little-seen romantic drama The Hollars. However, his second movie really was the calling card for a major filmmaker--a confident, engrossing film that transcended its gimmicky set-up (make a sound and a monster will get you) to become a tense, terrifying, and extremely moving experience. It was highly acclaimed by critics and hugely popular with audiences, and it ultimately grossed more than $340 million worldwide from a production budget of just $17 million.

Inevitably, there was talk of a sequel before the movie had even left theaters. Initially, Krasinski stated that he wasn’t interested in returning for a second film, but with a release date in place since last summer, it has now been confirmed that he will return for the sequel. Unsurprisingly, there's plenty we don't know about it, but some details have emerged. So here's everything we know about A Quiet Place 2 so far...

1. Who's directing the movie?

John Krasinski is returning to direct A Quiet Place 2. The news was first reported in Deadline, and Krasinski himself confirmed it via Instagram. While we've known for some time that he would be involved to some degree, this is the first confirmation that he direct it.

2. Who’s the writer?

Krasinski will also write the script for A Quiet Place 2. In an interview with Collider last November, Krasinski stated that he initially had no interest in making a sequel and was happy to let another writer and director take over. However, he was eventually persuaded by producers when he came up with an idea for the second movie and was asked to go ahead and work on the script. Interestingly enough, Krasinski was not the original writer of the first movie, although he did rework the initial spec script by Bryan Woods and Scott Beck.

3. When will it be released?

A Quiet Place 2 hits theaters on May 15, 2020. That date was announced back in August last year, before we had confirmation that Krasinski would even be as involved as a writer, let alone director.

4. Who will star?

While no cast members have been officially announced yet, Deadline reports that Emily Blunt has closed her deal to reprise her role as Evelyn Abbott in A Quiet Place 2. In addition, The Hollywood Reporter stated that Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe, who played Evelyn's kids, are also in talks to return. Whether or not Krasinski will step in front of the camera as dad Lee remains unknown--this is a terrifying post-apocalyptic world where death lurks around every corner after all.

5. What’s the story?

Unsurprisingly, we don't know too many details about the plot of A Quiet Place 2. However, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Krasinski did suggest that the movie might have a more expansive scope than the claustrophobic original. "I had this very small idea, and what it was is that this is a world you can play in," he said. "[It] isn't just a character to remake or a group of characters or a story. It's actually a world, which is a whole different, very unique experience. It's something we feel very lucky to have. It's not like Alien or Jaws where the main villain is the thing you're repeating; it's an actual entire set of rules and the circumstance that the world has undergone that you can play in very different facets."

6. How much will it cost?

The first movie had an extremely modest budget of $17 million, which make its massive gross an even more impressive achievement. Emily Blunt took a big pay cut to star in the film, as it was being directed by her husband Krasinski. However, The Hollywood Reporter states that the budget for A Quiet Place 2 will be "much higher." Whether this is because the production will be bigger, or just to account for Blunt and Krasinski's higher salaries is unknown, but what we know of the plot so far suggests that we will see a lot more money on screen.
