Any horror fan knows that the best monsters never truly die. David Gordon Green brought Michael Myers back in the well-received 2018 reboot of Halloween, and now he's in talks to film a brand-new Exorcist film according a report from The Observer.

Blumhouse Productions, the studio that brought us modern horror favorites like Get Out, Paranormal Activity, and the Purge, is reportedly developing a new Exorcist film, with Green as the director. Jason Blum, David Robinson, and James Robinson will produce.

After bringing Halloween back to life, Green filmed a sequel, Halloween Kills. COVID-19 delayed the movie significantly, but the film is now set to hit theaters in October 2021. The Exorcist premiered in 1973, directed by William Friedkin, starring Linda Blair, Ellen Burstyn, Jason Miller, and Max von Sydow as a 12-year-old girl possessed by a demon and the priest trying to free her of the possession.

Most studios don't reveal the intricacies of their day-to-day operations or contracts, keeping gamers and industry workers alike in the dark. But Raw Fury has made a bold move in opposition to this standard, releasing several templates used in its business dealings, including the details of their standard contract with game studios publicly in a statement on December 22.

Raw Fury has developed a reputation as a developer-friendly publisher over the years, even supporting one of its indie teams for a full-year past release despite small profits, and this move seems to be another step in line with that ethos. According to its statement, the reasoning for this decision was based in empathy for developers trying to navigate the confusing landscape of the industry.

"A lot of the humans working at Raw Fury have at some point been a developer, working for some of the most recognized AAA game studios to fledgling indie outfits. Learning which sorts of deals were out there was tough, if not impossible, unless you knew the right people who could then share that information (broadly) with you. We believe having publisher contracts out in the open helps level the playing field, and allows devs to have a more intimate understanding of the machinations of different deals when they start looking for partnerships. We hope sharing this knowledge can help combat shady practices where predatory people and companies fleece devs by virtue of this knowledge being so scarce, trapping developers in bad deals through the obscurity of legal jargon. CBS Studios Delays Filming On Several Shows as COVID Cases Rise

CBS has pushed the post-New Year restart dates on several of its series a week as COVID-19 cases in Los Angeles County have surged, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter.

The production on NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, SEAL Team, Why Women Kill, and Disney+'s Diary of a Future President had been planned to return on January 4 after their holiday break. Now, all five shows will now resume on January 11.

"Although music, TV, and film productions are allowed to operate, we ask you to strongly consider pausing work for a few weeks during this catastrophic surge in COVID cases," the County's Department of Public Health wrote on Christmas Eve. "Identify and delay higher risk activities, and focus on lower risk work for now, if at all possible."

The founder of Yoozoo Games, Lin Qi, passed away on Christmas Day after eight days in hospital suffering "acute symptoms of illness." Now the Shanghai police have revealed that poison may have played a part in Lin's death and have detained a colleague who is suspected of being involved, the Guardian reports.

Yoozoo Games is a Shanghai studio best known for Game of Thrones strategy game Winter is Coming. Yoozoo is also set to produce the upcoming Netflix adaptation of the Three-Body Problem, which has Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss attached.

According to reports from the Shanghai police, the hospital determined that Lin had been poisoned. The police have detained a suspect with the surname Xu, who allegedly worked with Lin at Yoozoo Games. Supes made a big splash last year, though, during the CW's Crisis on Infinite Earths event, when the network announced he would be getting his own series, Superman and Lois, separate from Supergirl. Superman and Lois' debut is imminent, and we have a new trailer and release date to get us prepped for the show.

The newest trailer doesn't show us much that we can consider concrete, but shows Hoechlin as Superman, talking about his fractured life, literally pulling on cables to bring his life back together. There are still images of Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch), and the iconic couple's two sons. Jonathan Kent is played 19-year-old Jordan Elsass, while the younger Jordan Kent is played by 16-year-old Alex Garfin. Check it out below:

DC Will Release Up To Six Movies A Year In Theaters And On HBO Max

Warner's decision to release all of its major 2021 movies directly onto HBO Max was a controversial one, despite the studio's assurance that it will return to a more traditional release model the following year. DC is a big part of Warner's movie division, and DC Films boss Walter Hamada has now revealed the plans for future releases.

Speaking to the New York Times, Hamada explained that from 2022 onwards, DC will release up to six movies a year. DC Will Release Up To Six Movies A Year In Theaters And On HBO Max

Warner's decision to release all of its major 2021 movies directly onto HBO Max was a controversial one, despite the studio's assurance that it will return to a more traditional release model the following year. DC is a big part of Warner's movie division, and DC Films boss Walter Hamada has now revealed the plans for future releases.

Speaking to the New York Times, Hamada explained that from 2022 onwards, DC will release up to six movies a year. Four of these will be the studio's big tentpole superhero movies, such as The Suicide Squad, The Batman, and Aquaman 2. What's more, Sensei Kreese (Martin Kove) reinserted himself as the leader of the dojo, kicking Johnny to the curb.

As Season 3 begins, the series will pick up right after it left off--which is bad news for both teacher and student. As has been seen in the trailers, Johnny's drinking is more problematic than ever, and he winds up in legal trouble. Meanwhile, once Miguel comes out of his coma, it's without the use of his legs. Luckily, though, the duo will eventually be able to help each other recover--which is especially good news for Johnny

"He feels this tremendous amount of responsibility and guilt for what happened," Zabka told GameSpot. "And he's also lost [Miguel's mom] Carmine and lost their trust--and he's lost his own sense of trusting himself. Is he capable of leading? Because look what happened. So he's afraid even to step in there for a minute because maybe he's gonna screw things up more. Wonder Woman 3 Is Being Fast-Tracked After Impressive Box Office For WW84

While the bar for a successful theatrical release isn't high in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Wonder Woman 1984 has cleared it, reporting a box office of $16.7 million over its three-day Christmas opening weekend according to a press release. This figure is the best any movie has reported since the pandemic began, beating out Tenet and The Croods: A New Age's COVID-affected openings.

While the numbers would be disappointing in a normal year, Wonder Woman 1984 has done better than expected given the circumstances. It currently boasts a total box office of $85 million, with $68.3 million of that coming from outside the USA. And because of this, Wonder Woman 3 is being fast-tracked.

This is likely for the best, considering Far Cry 5 and its spin-off New Dawn unexpectedly brought the series into the post-apocalyptic setting. Far Cry 6 takes place in the present, with the modern world still intact. However, this game's setting is on the island of Yara, a country isolated from the rest of the world due to economic sanctions, as the developers explained in a talk with GameSpot shortly after the reveal Playing as a native of Yara who joins the rebel forces, you'll make your way through the island dismantling the country's systems of power before facing off against Presidente Anton Castillo, who's played by Breaking Bad and The Mandalorian actor Giancarlo Esposito.

WWE Announces New Gaming Series To Air On The WWE Network

WWE is getting into gaming again, outside of Xavier Woods' UpUpDownDown. On Tuesday, December 29, the company will launch the Superstar Gaming Series on the WWE Network, and it will pit WWE Superstars against celebrities in an assortment of games.

Launching across WWE's social media platforms as well as on the Free Version of the WWE Network, it all kicks off at 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT on Tuesday. The Superstar Gaming Series will feature WWE wrestlers The Miz, Liv Morgan, Adam Cole, Tyler Breeze, Shayna Baszler and Jessamyn Duke and celebrities FaZe Adapt, Nick Eh 30, Lele Pons and Wale.

Final Fantasy XVI: Everything We Know

One of the major announcements during the PlayStation 5 reveal stream earlier in 2020 was Final Fantasy XVI. With a lengthy trailer that set the mood and showcased a bit of gameplay, there was a lot to parse for the next mainline entry in the storied franchise. Many mainstays of Final Fantasy lore were put front and center, and you can catch glimpses of how this new game is building off of the series' broader history and its recent past.

In addition to the relatively detailed reveal trailer, Square Enix also launched an official website that contains in-depth looks at FFXVI's new world and characters to get you started on understanding the backstory. What's notable about this entry, in particular, is that it's being developed by Creative Business Unit III--which is the not-so-flashy name for the division behind the incredible MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV. It's promising given that Naoki Yoshida is leading production on FFXVI--he led the team behind the rebirth of FFXIV and continues to direct the MMO, which keeps getting better and is regarded as top-tier in its storytelling. FFXVI itself is being directed by Hiroshi Takai, who has a lengthy history with Final Fantasy and Square Enix, and he was even part of developing FFXIV's reboot.

We're still a ways away from the launch of FFXVI, but Yoshida-san has stated that a major reveal of new information on the game is coming in 2021. Elden Ring: Everything We Know

Isn't it a little funny that we've heard more about Elden Ring in 2020 from Xbox head Phil Spencer than from the actual developers behind the game? Developer From Software sure is keeping details about Elden Ring close to the chest, but we do know a bit about the upcoming game.

From Software is developing the game in collaboration with Game Of Thrones author George R.R. Martin, telling a story where you're exploring an open world full of different kingdoms that are each ruled by a powerful entity. When you defeat a ruler, you gain their unique power--a system that sounds like (but isn't confirmed to be) how you can acquire the abilities and weapons of Dark Souls bosses by transfiguring their souls.

When talking to GameSpot, Spencer said, "As somebody who's played all of Miyazaki's games over at least the last decade, [Elden Ring] is clearly the most ambitious game that he's done. I mean, I love his games, but seeing some of the gameplay mechanics stuff that he's tackling, he and the team are tackling this time, of the setting, working with another creator in terms of story. I love it."

These 9 Things Will Totally Happen In Gaming In 2021 (Maybe)

With 2020 just about wrapped up and all its best games recognized in our annual Best Of awards, the team at GameSpot would like to help you anticipate what lies ahead by accurately predicting the future (or attempting to). 2021 is looking to be an exciting proving ground for new-generation consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, as they both enter the next phase after their recent launches. Will the year bring fantastic games and experiences that will push the new hardware toward exciting new heights? Or will we still have to wait a while before the heavy investment we made this past holiday season becomes worth it? And let's not forget; Nintendo just might use this year to release the long-rumored upgrade to the Switch--we think as much, at least. Whatever may happen, time will tell (or we will in our predictions)!
