'Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear' Arrives in the App Store for iOS and Android

As promised, Beamdog have launched Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear [$9.99] in the iOS App Store today. Taking place between the original Baldur's Gate [$4.99], which launched back in 1998, and Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn [$9.99], which launched in 2000, Siege of Dragonspear is a brand new title bridging the gap between those two stories. It's built in the same Infinity Engine that was used on the original two Baldur's Gate games, lending it some old-school authenticity, but with some additional fixes and features that are along the lines of what Beamdog did with their Enhanced Edition remakes of the first two games.

"Experience the Siege of Dragonspear, an epic Baldurs Gate tale, filled with with intrigue, magic, and monsters. Lead your party of heroes into deep dungeons filled with tactical battles and magical traps in this 30-hour Dungeons & Dragons adventure that expands the Baldur's Gate saga."

"Shortly after the conclusion of Baldurs Gate: Enhanced Edition, we return to the Forgotten Realms caught in a time of strife. A crusade marches from the north, seizing supplies, forcing locals into military service, and disrupting trade along the Sword Coast. A charismatic warrior known as the Shining Lady leads this army, her background shrouded in mystery."

Siege of Dragonspear originally launched on desktop just under two years ago, and we'd been hoping ever since that a mobile release was not far behind. Well, it took two years, but it's finally here. Like the previous Baldur's Gate iOS releases, this one is Universal with iPhone support and is a one-time purchase with no IAP. The release has been fairly well-received by Baldur's Gate fans on desktop, and given Beamdog's nice mobile treatment of the previous games I'm expecting the same level of quality with Siege of Dragonspear. You can grab it for $9.99 using the link below or on the Google Play Store if you're an Android player, and be sure to stop by the forum thread for more impressions or to leave your own thoughts about the game.
