Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery Trailer Shows First Gameplay

Warner Bros. and developer Jam City have released new details for the mobile game Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, along with a gameplay trailer. It's due out later this year for iOS and Android devices. It will be distributed by Portkey Games, a new WB label devoted to J.K. Rowling's wizarding world.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is the first mobile game to feature a unique character creator, letting you take the role of a student at Hogwarts rather than the title character. You can even be a Slytherin, if you really want to rub elbows with the bad kids.

The RPG will have you attend classes, form relationships with other students, and meet famous faces from the wizarding world. An encounter system means your decisions will impact quests to create your own Hogwarts story.

Given some of the cameos seen in the trailer, this would appear to take place in and around the time period of Harry Potter's seven years at Hogwarts. That could mean seeing some well-established story events from a new perspective. Warner Bros. hasn't announced a release date yet, but it's scheduled to launch this spring.
