19 Things We Learned About Westworld In Season 2, Episode 6, "Phase Space"

Westworld Season 2, Episode 6 spoilers ahead!

If you're the type of Westworld fan who likes to theorize and speculate, then each new episode is an ongoing succession of disappointments and vindications. Some hunches play out, while others prove dead wrong. Sometimes you're right, and sometimes you're wrong, in other words.

In Westworld Season 2, Episode 6, "Phase Space," a lot of theories turned out to be right. Read through all the new things we learned this week, then check out our new theories from this episode, as well as our full "Phase Space" breakdown, when you're done.

1. Bernard IS Arnold?

Ford didn't simply design Bernard's personality based on Arnold. Judging by this episode's opening scene, it seems Ford really did implant part of Arnold in Bernard's "mind," like William's Jim Delos golem. Maybe Bernard is Papa Delos 2.0, and Ford used Dolores to test Bernard's "fidelity," just like Bill did with Jim.

2. Dolores created a monster in Teddy.

This definitely won't come back to bite her. Not a chance.

3. It's been almost a week.

Nearly a week has passed since the massacre began, according to Charlotte. We're catching up to the "present" in which all or most of the hosts are facedown in a lake.

4. There are engineers in the Mesa dissecting hosts.

What are they hoping to gain from this?

5. Stubbs has a soft spot for the hosts still.

Even after everything he's seen over the past week.

6. Maeve has mastered her mind control commands.

This must have something to do with the "neural network" Bernard described much earlier in this season, right?

7. Musashi forgot to wipe the blood off his sword before sheathing it.

Does this drive anyone else crazy?

8. Bill thinks Emily is a host created by Ford.

It seems ridiculous at first, since we saw her journey here (or parts of it, at least). But then again, this is Westworld. Are we sure this isn't just another part of Ford's game?

9. Emily is apparently there to rescue her dad.

We speculated after an earlier episode about why Emily didn't seem eager to leave the parks after the s*** hit the fan. Apparently, she wasn't willing to leave without her father. Isn't that sweet?

10. Emily is savvy as hell.

"Those aren't real Ghost Nation arrows. Your men are looting a honey pot." Badass.

11. The park's climate control is up and running.

Phew. We were worried.

12. The "cradle" is blocking attempts to regain control.

The cradle is what holds the hosts' backups. Have the backups themselves become sentient? Or is there something else in there, as Elsie suggests?

13. The Man in Black is sober in the real world.

"Glad to see you can still tell the difference." Ouch, emily.

14. Emily is only there because Charlotte invited her to Ford's gala.

Did Charlotte have an ulterior motive, or was it an unfortunate coincidence for Emily that she was there when the hosts attacked?

15. Bernard is a total badass.

"The pain is just a program." Would you volunteer for this? Didn't think so.

16. Those little balls are indeed host brains.

Exhibit A.

17. Maeve's daughter has a new mom.

No one saw that coming. No one.

18. The cradle is a VR Westworld.

Or at least, that's how it seems when Bernard gets plugged in. If these are the hosts' backups, it makes sense that they'd be running on their default settings. But aren't they about to be erased too?

19. And look who's there.

This may not answer the question of whether Ford is really alive or dead, but it does seem, at least, that he managed to upload a version of himself into the Cradle.
