DC Universe Streaming Service Details: Swamp Thing, Titans, And More

Comics giant DC has officially announced and named its membership program that will offer access to at least five original series. The DC Universe site calls itself an "immersive digital experience" that will offer unlimited access to a mix of live-action and animated programming. That certainly sounds like a digital streaming service, but the phrasing implies the shows are just one perk of membership rather than the entire deal.

Those four shows listed include Titans, Swamp Thing, Young Justice: Outsiders, and Harley Quinn. A fifth show, unmentioned on the official site but in development according to Rotten Tomatoes, will be Metropolis. All but Swamp Thing and Metropolis have been slated for 2018, while those two are pegged for 2019 and TBD, respectively.

Most of these shows are strictly logos for the time being. The one exception is Titans, which has given some indication of the style and mood by showing off Robin's costume. The part will be played by Brenton Thwaites (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales). We also got word recently that the Swamp Thing series will feature a who's who of horror directors in fitting with the character's creepy style. Young Justice and Harley Quinn will be animated shows.

The site doesn't list a price or release date for the service, but you can sign up for email alerts to be notified once it's ready. We're likely to hear more about DC's programming plans at San Diego Comic-Con this July.
