New Jurassic World 2 Trailer Shows Off More Mayhem

The huge success of 2015's Jurassic World proved that the series of dinosaur thrillers still had plenty of fans, and inevitably, a sequel follows this summer. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom hits theaters on June 22, and following the recent trailer, we have a new TV spot.

While some of the footage in the promo has appeared previously, there are some new shots in there. In particular, there's a slightly longer version of the scene featuring the huge aquatic Mosasaurus about to snack on some surfers, which looks like it could be one of the most incredible shots in the series to date. Check it out below:

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rafe Spall, Toby Jones, Jeff Goldblum, and BD Wong. It's directed by Spanish filmmaker JA Bayona, and co-written by Colin Trevorrow, who helmed the first movie.

In a recent interview with Walmart Gamecenter, Pratt spoke about how important the relationship between his character Owen and the Velociraptor Blue was to the movie. "Most of the relationships between man and beast in this franchise have been man marveling at the spectacle of this giant creature, or man running in fear and hiding and trying not to get eaten," he said. "So it's either fear or wonder, while the relationship between Owen and Blue is a different kind of relationship.

"It's more of a parent-to-child or master-to-subject type of relationship. He feels a lot of love for her. The best movies are about relationships, and this is a really pivotal and instrumental one in the story. She’s very important, not only as a really cool dinosaur that we get to see fighting and moving around and living the way we assume a dinosaur like that would have looked."

Even though Fallen Kingdom doesn't hit theaters until June 22, the release date for the third movie has already been announced. In February, it was confirmed that it will arrive on June 11, 2021. It has also been announced that Trevorrow will return to direct it. This is Trevorrow's first movie since he was fired from Star Wars Episode IX last year.
