We were ecstatic to learn in March of last year that a sequel to Warhammer Quest ($2.99), one of the finest turn-based dungeon crawlers on the App Store, was in the works, especially given the troubles the game’s original developer Rodeo Games had experienced. We all sort of figured a new Warhammer Quest game was totally off the table following that. However Perchang, the new studio that arose following Rodeo Games going on hiatus, was on the case and everything they’d shown in the months after that initial announcement was looking on point. This past October, Warhammer Quest 2: The End Times ($4.99) finally arrived on iOS, and then just last month it made its way to Android as well. Today Perchang wanted to give fans a glimpse into the creation of Warhammer Quest 2 with this new behind the scenes video, check it out.
I always love stuff like this that shows the process of game development. It’s especially interesting in the case of Warhammer Quest 2 as the game moved into full 3D polygonal visuals as opposed to the 2D top-down visuals of the first game, and that jump to 3D has the potential to introduce all sorts of issues that have to be taken into account. It’s also quite cool that they were able to cram in so much information into a short video like this that’s only a few minutes long. I’m sure they could make many more of these covering many more aspects of the game’s development, and I’d be happy if they did. Finally, the end of the video includes some hints as to what they’re working on in regards to future content for Warhammer Quest 2, as well as that it’s coming to PC soon, so be sure to give the full video a watch and give our full review a read to learn what we loved so much about this great turn-based strategy game.
