WWE Money In The Bank 2018 Rumors: Why Isn't Daniel Bryan In The Main Event?

WWE has made a push to make Money In The Bank one of the bigger PPVs of the year, following in the footsteps of Summerslam, Survivor Series, Royal Rumble, and Wrestlemania. Because of this, MITB has a lot of hype around it this year, and that means plenty of rumors surrounding the June PPV.

MITB will have an earlier start time this year when it airs on Sunday, June 17 at 7 PM ET / 4 PM PT, with a Kickoff Show starting one hour earlier. According to PW Insider, MITB starting earlier is to accommodate talent. Because future events feature superstars from both Raw and Smackdown, the PPV match cards can't feature everyone, so adding an extra hour means WWE can fit a few more matches at each event. It's unknown at this time if future PPVs will also start earlier as well, but it seems likely.

Recently, Daniel Bryan was added to the card but not in the titular Money In The Bank match. According to Wrestling Observer (via Wrestling News), it's because the ladder match is a high-risk event, and the last thing Bryan needs is another concussion, which would more than likely force him back into retirement.

As for the Raw Women's Championship match, which was booked at a red carpet event where the champion made the challenge--yes, that's truly weird--Ronda Rousey's match against champion Nia Jax is going to be short, according to Wrestling Observer. While Rousey is still new to the WWE and professional wrestling in general, she proved that she could hang in the ring at Wrestlemania, even though she had three veterans in the ring with her to help out. However, MITB will be her singles debut in the company, so we shouldn't expect anything more than 10 minutes.

The main events of the evening will be the two Money in the Bank matches: one for the men and the other for the women. The matches will feature superstars from both Raw and Smackdown brands. Early on, The Miz was a favorite to win the men's match, and additionally, a rumor from WrestleVotes said a Smackdown star--which The Miz is on--would win the match. However, the favorite to win is currently Braun Strowman, who is on the Raw roster. There have also been whispers on Finn Balor winning after he climbed a ladder and grabbed one of the cases hanging above the ring on the June 4 episode of Raw. His winning may all depend on whether or not we see the Demon version of Balor who hasn't been around for eight months now.

One of the big questions for the men's Money in the Bank match is which member of The New Day will wrestle in the match? Many have speculated it will be Xavier Woods, but PW Insider said they heard Big E will be the one to enter the match. Chances are that we won't know who will be in the match for sure until the PPV.

As for the women, there haven't been a lot of rumors surrounding their main even match. Many people are putting their money down on Ember Moon, who was recently signed to Raw, to win the event over veterans like Natalya and Charlotte.

We'll keep you updated on all the latest MITB rumors leading up to the June 17 event. And make sure to come back the night of the PPV for GameSpot's live coverage.
