Red Dead Redemption 2 Trailer Shows Off New Deadeye System

The latest trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 shows off the newly expanded Deadeye system, which comes with some added bells and whistles for outlaws looking to cause trouble.

As opposed to Deadeye in the classic Red Dead Redemption, this new one progresses in stages and lets you access a few different kinds of functions. You can use it to slow time and aim your shots carefully, or you can paint targets to have Arthur automatically squeeze off shots. You can even see critical or weak points on enemies, as evidenced by an X-ray effect. This will come in handy when fighting off human enemies, but the trailer also shows Arthur shooting down a stage coach by targeting an explosive piece.

The same trailer showed off the wide variety of criminal activities you can take part in, from loansharking to good old-fashioned robbery. Following a kickoff marked by hands-on time, Rockstar is now releasing new information on Red Dead Redemption 2 at a steady clip now approaching its release on October 26. Its multiplayer mode, Red Dead Online, will launch approximately a month after the main game, but it will be in beta and Rockstar expects some kinks to work out.
