Joycity has a long history of releasing strategic multiplayer free to play battle games, and maintaining them with all sorts of content updates. We recently saw that with Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War (Free) and the addition of Captain Salazar. Well, a big part of these types of battler games is finding one with a theme that jives with you, and Gunship Battle: Total Warfare’s spin is it takes place in a hyper-modern military setting, so instead of dealing with pirates and treasure you’re sending dispatching your aircraft carrier’s fighter jets, moving tanks around, and other things along those lines, with battles that take place over land, air, and sea.
Of course there’s a hefty amount of resource management as you choose which specific way to build out your base, and which technologies you will research first to improve your forces. There’s an ever-present enemy force in the game known as “Armada," which you’ll be able to engage in all sorts of PvE battles- Both to gain resources for building and upgrading, as well as learning the best way to approach battles so when you’re actually fighting against players you don’t get instantly destroyed. Of course, these PvE encounters increase in difficulty as you level up, eventually presenting a significant challenge to players.
Once you’ve hit that point, however, chances are you’ll already be engaging in PvP which is where in-game alliances come in. These work a lot like clans, or guilds in other games, but in a nutshell these alliances allow you to band together to protect and expand your various bases. Additionally, players inside of alliances can offer helpful buffs to each other, such as shortening building times on your various constructions.
Where Gunship Battle: Total Warfare stands out is in the multiple phases that battles can have, thanks to the inclusion of the air, land, and sea unit types. You might send your fighter jets in first to soften up the enemy, then move your naval units into position, before eventually sending your ground forces in. Or, hey, maybe you feel like doing it the opposite way. There’s not really a “right" way to win battles, as it all comes down to forming a strategy that will work against the enemy base.
There’s also a surprisingly complex in-game economy that leads players to fight over control of the cities which in turn assists with players trading with each other. Fighting over these cities is a big part of what you’ll be doing with your alliances, as there’s many rewards to be had for controlling as much territory as possible.
If you’re into modern military games like Call of Duty or other similar series, chances are the setting of Gunship Battle: Total Warfare will be just as appealing to you. If the App Store has proven anything, it’s that this gameplay formula works really well, and Joycity is an expert at running these kind of games. Check out Gunship Battle: Total Warfare and join an alliance of other players today.
