Netflix Releases Trailer For Brie Larson's New Movie, Reuniting With Samuel L Jackson

Hot off the heels of Captain Marvel, Brie Larson (Kong: Skull Island, Room) is keeping herself busy, what with starring in the forthcoming Avengers: Endgame (2019) and Just Mercy (2020). But beyond just acting, Larson has assumed the director's chair for the first time. Her directorial debut, Unicorn Store, just got a sparkly new trailer, which you can watch above.

The film is headed exclusively to Netflix on April 5 and stars Larson in the main role as Kit, a young woman more intent on chasing dreams than chasing paychecks. The film co-stars Annaleigh Ashford (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Masters of Sex), Joan Cusack (Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, The Perks of Being a Wallflower), Karan Soni (Deadpool, Goosebumps), and Martha MacIsaac (Dead Before Dawn, SuperBad). Notably, the cast also includes Samuel L. Jackson (Glass, The Hitman's Bodyguard), who co-starred alongside Larson in Captain Marvel.

The trailer starts with our protagonist getting kicked out of school for not coloring in the lines. Kevin, a longtime friend played by Karan Soni, stops by Kit's house and asks if she has a plan, to which she replies that she's "taking a temporary position at a public relations firm." From there we see Kit meet a host of characters--including Jackson's character, The Salesman-on a journey of hope and self-discovery and childlike magic. The trailer illuminates the film's central theme: chase your dreams, no matter how ludicrous they are.

Unicorn Store first debuted in 2017 at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Since then, it's scored a 68 percent on Rotten Tomatoes amongst critics. With its partnership with streaming giant Netflix, Unicorn Store makes its widespread debut on April 5.

Most recently, Brie Larson starred in Captain Marvel as the amnesiac hero, Carol Danvers. In our Captain Marvel review, we said, "Right now this movie is an obligatory addendum to the Avengers story, when it deserved to be an essential opening chapter." Larson's Captain Marvel is also set to appear in Avengers: Endgame, which releases in theatres on April 26.
