‘JUNKPUNCHER’ Makes Foes Explode With Steely Fisticuffs

JUNKPUNCHER hearkens back to the retro days of shattering hands and punching enemies until they blow up, doing so to make the streets safe (ish).

Neon Deity Games, creators of Shutshimi: Seriously Swole, have turned their work from shmups designed around a goldfish’s attention span to futuristic dangers that litter your average NES game city. Robots are up to no good for an unknown reason, and with your shiny metallic knuckles, you need to clobber them until they behave themselves. Just ignore the fact that you’re using a robotic arm to deal with a robot problem. I’m sure nothing can go wrong with that.

Clearly inspired by NES-era action platformers, the game still aims to offer a bit of a softer difficulty curve than many of the games of the time. They are looking to deal with some of the more “frustrating elements” of games of the time, allowing for a play style that won’t have you frequently hurling your Switch or computer tower straight out the window. Although there will be elements in the game that will allow for that level of challenge if you enjoy it (and hate your game systems).

JUNKPUNCHER is still early in development, but its Shatterhand vibes in art and play style hint that you’ll likely find it to be an enjoyable action game when it releases.

JUNKPUNCHER is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can follow its creation on the developer’s site.

DISCLOSURE – Wayne Kubiak, artist for JUNKPUNCHER, was the artist for the IGP logo. This has in no way affected our decision to cover JUNKPUNCHER.
