More Lego Movies Are Coming From Jurassic World, Fast & Furious Studio

More Lego films are coming--but from a different production studio. Variety reports that Jurassic World company Universal Pictures is in discussions with The Lego Group to make more movies based on the little bricks.

The Lego Movie and its sequel, as well as the Lego Batman spinoffs, were produced by Warner Bros. According to Variety, Universal's new deal with Lego is a "much broader use of the intellectual property" compared to the previous movies.

Universal is said to be exploring numerous opportunities to create new Lego movies based on the company's film franchises. Universal and Lego already teamed up for the Lego Jurassic World mini-series for Nickelodeon. Variety reports that Universal is also considering "live-action hybrid" movies. In addition to Jurassic World, Universal's other massive property is Fast & Furious.

Dan Lin, who produced numerous Lego movies for Warner Bros., will reportedly return to produce the new Lego movies for Warner Bros. This is notable since Lin also has an overall deal with Warner Bros.

Another report from The Hollywood Reporter states that Universal's new deal with Lego is "exclusive." Lego's partnership with Warner Bros. for Lego movies reportedly ended in Fall 2019.

The report goes on to say that after The Ninjago Movie and Lego Movie: The Second Part fell short at the box office, Lego "began rethinking its deal." Multiple studios reportedly bid for the Lego deal before Universal closed it.
