Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories, which released in Japan back in November 2018, is finally making its way to the west. It will release for Switch, PS4, and PC on April 7, 2020.
The game is about escaping from a collapsing city in the wake of a terrible natural incident. Much of the gameplay focuses on helping other survivors to navigate their way to safety.
The first new Disaster Report game to release outside Japan since 2007 (Disaster Report 2 was retitled Raw Danger! in the US) has been a long-time coming. It was originally meant to release for the PlayStation 3 in 2011, but was cancelled after the 2011 TÅhoku earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
In 2014, developer Granzella acquired the rights to the franchise, and development on the game began anew. It is being localized by NIS America. Fans of the series have had to wait a long time for this latest entry.
Granzella previously developed the Japan-only City Shrouded In Shadow for PlayStation 3, which was intended to be a spiritual successor to the Disaster Report series.
