Classic Puzzle Platformer ‘Toki Tori’ is Now Part of GameClub

Toki Tori is a puzzle game developed by Dutch studio Two Tribes that was released for the Game Boy Color way back in 2001, and in fact it was that studio’s debut game. Two Tribes would work on a number of games over the years, but Toki Tori would come back into the fray by way of an enhanced remake which released for the WiiWare service on Nintendo’s Wii. That version would find its way to the iPhone in 2009 courtesy of publisher Chillingo. The gameplay had you using various tools to navigate each level and collect all of the eggs, and it turned out to be a perfect fit for the touchscreen as we laid out in our original review from May of 2009. Sadly, as is the case with many games of that vintage, and games that were published by mostly defunct companies such as Chillingo, the iOS version of Toki Tori has been lost to the wind in subsequent years. But that’s exactly the type of thing that GameClub exists for, and this week they brought Toki Tori back from the dead and introduced it to their catalog.

I have so many fond memories of playing Toki Tori on the iPhone back in the 2009 and 2010 era, and it makes me so happy to see it being revived by GameClub. As is the case with every game that’s part of GameClub’s library, if you previously owned Toki Tori on iOS, you’re entitled to this new updated version for free, even if you’re not a GameClub subscriber. This is one of those situations where they weren’t able to update the original bundle ID, so it’s technically a new release, meaning you’ll need to download the new version and follow the instructions to get it unlocked if you were a previous owner. If you didn’t own it before you can still check out the GameClub version for free in a limited fashion, and if you decide to subscribe to their service you’ll get full access to it as well as more than 100 other classic iOS games. Welcome back, old friend!
