The Lord Of The Rings Cast Is Reuniting And It's Going To Feel So Good

It's been 17 years since the final film in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Return of the King, hit theaters. And although we're currently living through dark times, there's a ray of light on the horizon: The cast is reuniting soon for actor Josh Gad's web show Reunited Apart. The episode will arrive Sunday, May 31.

Gad revealed the news in a trailer featuring Lord of the Rings cast members Sean Astin (Samwise Gamgee), Elijah Wood (Frodo Baggins), Dominic Monaghan (Merry), Billy Boyd (Pippin), Orlando Bloom (Legolas), and Ian McKellen (Gandalf). Watch the full trailer if you want to get a taste of just how warm and fuzzy this reunion is going to feel--it should hit you around the time the final guest comes in at the end. And it appears these aren't the only cast members who will be joining the virtual reunion: In an Instagram post by Karl Urban (who played Éomer in The Two Towers and Return of the King), you can also glimpse Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn), Liv Tyler (Arwen), Andy Serkis (Gollum), Miranda Otto (Éowyn), Sean Bean (Boromir), and others.

Gad, who's probably best known for his role as Olaf the snowman in Disney's Frozen movies, has been reuniting casts on his YouTube channel for weeks, focusing on cult favorite films including The Goonies, Back to the Future, and Splash.
