In 2005, Henry Cavill auditioned for the role of James Bond, but he didn't get the part. The actor went on to have success with the role of Superman and more recently, as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix's fantasy show. Cavill has now opened up about James Bond specifically, saying in an interview with GQ that he would "absolutely jump" at the idea of playing Bond in a future movie.
Cavill was only 22 when he auditioned for 007 for Casino Royale, and that would have made him the youngest actor to play the role. He's now 37, and with Daniel Craig stepping down from the role after No Time To Die, the producers will be looking for a new super-spy. Nothing is decided yet, of course, but Cavill wants the producers to know he's interested.
"If [Bond producer Barbara Broccoli] and Mike [co-producer Michael G. Wilson] were interested in that, I would absolutely jump at the opportunity," Cavill said. "At this stage, it's all up in the air. We'll see what happens. But yes, I would love to play Bond, it would be very, very exciting."
