PSN Black Friday Sale 2020: Best PS5 And PS4 Game Deals


When you think of Black Friday sales, you probably think of major retailers like Target, Walmart, and Best Buy and the doorbuster deals they offer in stores and online. You can certainly find a lot of steep discounts at those stores, but the rise of digital gaming has made the PlayStation Store a great option for buying new games--and your only real option if you own a digital-only PS5. Black Friday is a particularly good time to pick up some new digital games for your system, as it features steep discounts on 2020 releases and gems from recent years.

Despite the PS5 releasing less than a month ago, there are already some PS5 games you can purchase at steep discounts in PSN's Black Friday sale. This includes huge titles from publishers like Ubisoft and EA along with a slew of other PS5-compatible PS4 games available for more than half off. The PSN Black Friday 2020 sale is live until December 1, so be sure to grab any games that catch your eye before then.

The Last of Us Part 2

The Last of Us Part 2 was one of the most anticipated releases of 2020, bringing the story of Ellie and Joel to a violent and emotional conclusion. It's on sale for just $30 in PSN's Black Friday sale, so if you didn't pick it up back in June, now's a great time to dive in.


Ghost of Tsushima


$40.19 (was $60)

Ghost of Tsushima was the last PS4 exclusive to release before the launch of the PS5, and it's down to $40 this week for Black Friday. The stunning samurai adventure takes place during the Mongol invasion of Japan and follows warrior Jin Sakai, one of the last members of his clan, as he fights to reclaim his home.


Persona 5 Royal


$30 (was $60)

If you missed out on Persona 5 back in 2017, you're in for a real treat with Persona 5 Royal, the extended definitive edition of the acclaimed JRPG. For just 30 bucks, you're getting over 100 hours of great content, and Royal adds new characters, locations to explore, alternate endings, and more.


Final Fantasy VII Remake


$39.59 (was $60)

Final Fantasy VII Remake is only the first part in Square Enix's ambitious remake of the iconic 1997 JRPG. FFVII Remake's first entry takes place entirely in Midgar and expands that sliver of the story into a full 40-hour campaign complete with entirely new events and side quests. It's one of the best games of the year and well worth it at this price.


Watch Dogs: Legion


$40 (was $60)

One of the most innovative games released in 2020, Watch Dogs: Legion takes the series' signature hacking and open-world action and introduces a new "play as anyone" game mechanic. You can literally control any person in London, using them in your mission to take on the corrupt organizations trying to control its citizens through fear and deception. Legion comes with a free next-gen upgrade, so even if you don't have a PS5 yet, you'll be able to download the enhanced version when you get one.


Marvel's Avengers


$30 (was $60)

Just released back in September but already discounted by half, Marvel's Avengers is a massive action-adventure game with a particularly good story campaign. You can play as the Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Ms. Marvel, and Thor, with additional characters coming as DLC, and each has their own unique combat style. Marvel's Avengers will receive a free next-gen upgrade sometime in 2021.


Star Wars: Squadrons


$24 (was $40)

An excellent space-combat simulator from EA Motive, Star Wars: Squadrons feels like an old-school Star Wars game in more ways than one. There are no microtransactions, its smaller scale allows for a focused campaign that values brevity, and it doesn't overwhelm you with unnecessary multiplayer modes. It also has full PlayStation VR support.


Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2


$30 (was $40)

Activision's Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series was in the gutter, with a downright putrid fifth game threatening to kill it off for good. However, the team at Vicarious Visions rescued it and then some with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2. With complete remakes of the first two games and almost every original song (along with new ones), the package delivers Tony Hawk gameplay in the best way possible.


Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time


$39 (was $60)

Just released in October, Crash Bandicoot 4 is down to $39 on PSN for Black Friday. The action-packed platformer picks up right after the end of the third game, with Crash and his sister Coco back to save the world from the villainous Neo Cortex and N. Tropy.

Doom Eternal


$20 (was $60)

The sequel to 2016's reboot, Doom Eternal is a lightning-fast first-person shooter that once again stars the legendary Doom Slayer. There are even more types of demons to kill this time around, and you can also take things online and compete in the challenging Battle Mode against player-controller demons.


Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - Game of the Year Edition


$39 (was $60)

One of the best games of 2019, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is one of From Software's most unique games. It retains the challenge and structure of the Souls series but with a more focused approach to combat and customization, and a recent patch even added a boss rush mode to challenge dedicated players. Just have an extra controller in case you break one.


Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order


$24 (was $60)

Respawn Entertainment got its start with the Titanfall series and Apex Legends, but it branched out into a new genre with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Part Souls, part Uncharted, and all Star Wars, the game's surprisingly good story is bolstered by terrific exploration and lightsaber combat as well as charming characters.


God of War


$10 (was $20)

If you don't have a PS5 and PlayStation Plus--and thus don't have access to the PS Plus Collection to download this game for free--God of War is on sale for just $10. The 2018 semi-reboot shifts the action to a heavier and more tactical approach that's perfect for Old Man Kratos. His new axe feels incredible, and the entire game is done in a pseudo-one-shot to keep the focus on Kratos and his son the entire time.


Madden NFL 21


$35 (was $60)

The latest entry in the Madden series is also the first to release on next-gen systems. Available later this year, the PS5 version of Madden NFL 21 will cost $70. However, you can purchase the PS4 version now for just $35 and receive a free digital upgrade once it's available. While you wait, the PS4 version is still playable on PS5 due to backwards compatibility.
