Epic Games and Tribeca Enterprises--the organizers of Tribeca Film Festival--are trying to make it a little bit easier for aspiring animators to create films. In fact, a new extension of the Unreal Fellowship program will provide educational workshops to help them learn how they can use the technology to create their projects--even those that have nothing to do with gaming.
The program will be led by Unreal Engine experts and will provide information on how to use the technology for "cutting-edge entertainment, compelling visualizations, and immersive virtual worlds." Though it certainly began its life as a video game engine and it's immensely popular for this purpose, Unreal has already seen use in film and some major film projects are even created in it. Mutant Year Zero, for instance, is being adapted for the big screen with Unreal.
"The technology that has powered so many of today's most renowned video games is becoming more and more essential to the production of films and television shows, and our mission is to provide a platform for independent filmmakers to learn more about these incredibly powerful tools and resources available to them," Tribeca Festival co-founder CEO Jane Rosenthal said in a statement on the festival's website. You can sign up to be notified about the program and learn more information at the same link.
